Core Web Vitals have always been important for performance reasons. Soon with the update this summer, it will be a new scoring mechanism. Performance metrics existed a long time before Google coagulated these into an above the water mark score mechanism they call Core Web Vitals.

These are scores that have a lot of tests underneath in order to evaluate them. These kinds of performance metrics have existed for a long time and they were always important for you to deliver a fast and good user experience but now they’ve become more important as Google has invented these new summary metrics.
