Thinking of content more than links – suprising myself.

I’m suprising myself in that lately I’ve been focusing more on "content" thinking, rather than "link" thinking….must have something to do with trying for this "naturalness" stuff then engines have been trying to get us to move towards for years…but only recently has it really seemed to be a real ranking factor.

This weekend I found a great post over on Webmasterworld in the supporters forum (you need to be a member – Join if you haven’t yet), the thread was started by emodo and is called "63 Questions to Ask Prior to Building a Content Site" and includes such questions as:

What is the draw/teaser?
Why is the concept unique?
Who is the competition?
Who is going to read it?
Why will they return to the site?
How will a following/community be developed?

and 57 more things you should ask yourself. In that post, ken_b also makes reference to a few of Tedster’s threads called

Information Archecture: Part I
Information Architecture: Part II

Lately I’ve found myself thinking more about content, and less about links….are you this way too? Is the SEO game of 2006 "Winning the SEO battles via content"? What do you think?

—- on another note, I had a good chuckle at "Top 10 Website Euphemisms" put out by Google Blogoscoped. – See, it’s cool content like that that gets links…who’d a thought 😉
