Timing Is Everything: 5 Tools To Share At The Right Time

TimeA common mistake made in the world of social media marketing is failing to share content at the right time for maximum exposure.

It might seem like a small matter, but it can make a huge difference in everything from traffic to reposts. Those who manage to discover the best days and even hours to share see a significant growth in activity from their followers, and even manage to snare some new ones on a regular basis.

How do you find these times? In the past, it was all a matter of trial and error. But such a method is imprecise and takes a lot of time and effort that can be better spent elsewhere. Instead, trying using a collection of tools to get the results you are looking for.

1. When To Tweet

When To Tweet
Twitter has the most tools out there for analyzing data and finding out when the tweet. Most are free, but these are always a little lacking. The best I have found is When To Tweet, a paid service that gives you a full report of all followers for $4.99. It gives you a simple to read chart showing the best times of the day for sharing by viewing the most active hours of activity. You can then schedule your tweets accordingly.

2. PageLever Now

PageLever Now
This is the only reliable tool I have found for Facebook, perhaps because the style of platform is rather difficult to aggregate in any meaningful way. Instead of looking at overall posts given their fluid nature, PageLever Now gives you a look at when the most frequent views and shares occurred within the first 48 hours of a post. Using this data, you can easily see when your followers are most interested in content.

3. Timing+

Timing+
Through historical content analysis, Timing+ gives you an accurate and long term look at when the best time is for sharing. It will give you both a date and a time for maximum effect, but it will also rank the days and times for you to get a clearer picture.

4. Media Bistro

Media Bistro
Social media site Media Bistro did an in depth analysis of Pinterest, Google+, Twitter and Facebook. They found the best times and days for posting on each site, as well as breaking it down by country if you would prefer not to be too specific about region. The data might not be perfect when put into the context of a single account, but it is a good general guideline for narrowing down a global strategy. Especially if you are trying to widen your audience through greater visibility.

5. Time Zones

Time Zones
If you have a majority of followers from specific regions, you can easily cater to their needs by basing posts on time zone. This is a quick reference to show you what time it is in each country around the world.

Don’t miss out on your chance for social media success for something as simple and silly as not posting at the right time. Use these tools to discover the perfect day and hour to grow your user base.

  1. Great stuff! I totally need Time Zones, even when not thinking about sharing. 🙂

  2. Good list of tools Ann!

While I have heard about Pagelever, am yet to lay my hands on it. Since you’ve voted for it, am off to try it now!

  3. I really like Crowdbooster. It’s a great dashboard tool. It was free but it’s now a paid app. Still under $10/month though.
