haha,
this is very funny, being a part of online industry since last 4 years, i used to get such emails every day. you will find plenty of thread at various forums like digitalpoint, claiming high PR links at cheap rate.

I personally feel that, link should be natural, i am regular reader of your blog.

I dont believe in buying links. If you provide the best content and create links naturally, you will rank highly.

Very common! I stumble upon many of such conversation esp at Interviews .... I know few of these guys who build websites just to sell links, they are paid INR 7000 per month in any company, they create a website and sell links $5*100 = $500 = $500*50 = INR 25,000, huge for them.

Chuck,

As I read your exchange with XXX, this conversation from 1984's "This Is Spinal Tap" came to mind.

Nigel: "The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and...

Marty: "Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten?

Nigel: "Exactly.

Marty: "Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder?

Nigel: "Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?

Marty: "I don't know.

Nigel: "Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?

Marty: "Put it up to eleven.

Nigel: "Eleven. Exactly. One louder.

Marty: "Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?"

Nigel: [pause] "These go to eleven."

Herb
(Of course, I Googled to get exact dialogue ...)
