Eric Ward offers Link Building Newsletter.

Eric Ward is a man with several several names (The Father of Link Building, Link Moses, Mac Daddy Link Master, among other respected link names).   I’ve got the highest respect for Eric, and I’ve been lucky eneough to had the honor of sitting next to Eric on a few SES link building panels.. I’ve also also got a link to Eric’s speaking presentations that is included in the link building training that my…

Sperm Donors make more than SEO’s.

Catchy headline eh? I found this neat tool via Digg that shows how much you should be getting paid….but before my employees get all excited and start asking for raises, read the funny digg comments…and yes, Sperm Donors can make more than SEO’s according to this tool….and yes, I must be a cheap bastard because I don’t pay $140,000/year….but again…when I saw the huge local rates for SEO’s and click on the…

It’s True – Spammers Can’t Add!

I’ve had my little battles with blog spam in the past. I’ve gone so far as to deactivate comments and pings on post over 30 days old (that actually helped a lot)….then I added  a plug in called Akismet which helped some more….then I saw a few weeks ago that Matt Cutts had added a plug in that asked a simple math question that people had to answer in order…

Non SEO: 3 Funnies

I guess I’m on a "joke" roll….here’s 3 funnies for your enjoyment: Two men are sitting drinking at a bar at the top of the Empire State Building when the first man turns to the other and says, "You know,  last week I discovered that if you jump from the top of this building, by the time you fall to the 10th floor, the winds around the building are so…

Non SEO: Living Wills

Last night, my wife and I were sitting in the living room talking about many things. The idea of a Living Will came up and I said to her, "I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on a machine and fluids from a bottle. If I ever come to that just pull the plug."She got up… Unplugged my computer and then threw out my beer.

Jim Boykin on Myspace.

So being that it’s a Saturday, and I’m not in the office (and I keep reading Gray Wolf posting about myspace), I thought I’d get a myspace page for Jim Boykin. I even did a blog post there on search engine optimization 101 …..nothing advanced…but I figure it will help out the kids there to understand a bit on how search engines rank websites. I found some other SEO’s in…

Politics and SEO – They just don’t mix!

OK…..that was fun….not. I deleted my political post, it was getting kinda nasty in there. Yea, I should have listened to those who warned me. Comments closed here too – you’ll have to go elsewhere to talk politics. Guess that was just one of Jim’s Crazy Ideas. End of discussion…..and now, back to the regularly scheduled SEO talk….

Why that site with 50 backlinks beats your site with 1000 backlinks.

All I ever hear is numbers numbers numbers. So and So has this many links, we need this many links, how many links can you get us, buy 100′s of links cheap, get your link on 100 pages, ahhhhhhh. The numbers game died a few years ago. There’s another line of thinking out there that you might not know about….. It’s not always "He with the most links" who wins…

A year of blogging – Suggestions? Win a box of goodies!

Wow, I just realized it’s been over a year since I started this blog.  I’m seeking feedback on the good, the bad, and the ugly. I’ll also select 1 person (who I feel gives the most helpful response) to receive a box of goodies that will include: A Napster Ballcap, A Napster hoodlum hat, a We Build Pages polo shirt, a We Build Pages wall clock, and some other trinkets I’ve got…
